Used to go every year, lineups lately more like a radio 1 roadshow than a festival tho so don't bother

I know people that go to Glastonbury, Vegas and Ibiza for exactly the same reasons.

Re: V festival
I used to go to V in the late 90s and always found the line up pretty diverse. Can remember seeing people like Underworld, Leftfield, Killing Joke, Primal Scream, Manics, Pixies, Asian Dub Foundation and Flaming Lips. All of which were very good. There was also some shite as well! Having seen a poster for this years line up it looks a lot more pop orientated than it used to be.

Re: V festival
I went five years ago, as my daughter was helping out on a t-shirt stall and had free passes. I only wanted to see Rodrigo y Gabriella, so fucked off once they'd finished as the rest of the acts were garbage.
Mind you, at 56 I don't suppose I was their target audience.

I used to be all over V at the start of the century. Saw some fantastic bands back then.

It's far too pop orientated for me now.

Re: V festival
I used to work with a woman who went every year, purely so she could tell everyone that she was going.

She knew fuck all about music and it was all about getting as many photo's as possible on Facebook to show everyone what a great time she was having.

'Me at V......Eek!'

'Me on some random bloke's shoulders at V!........Eek!'

'Me and my bestie at V having a drink!..........Eek!'

'Me sucking off twelve blokes at V!.........Eek!'

Been to both sites as I've lived in both of the towns (although the Stafford site is nowhere near Stafford really and is actually nearer Telford). Not been for years though and the line up looks a bit shit this year, with one or two notable exceptions.

Causes chaos round here if there is an accident on the M6...

Went once, in 1995, was OK but I was pissed as a newt. Couldn't think of anything worse these days - a field full of drunk fake tanned Lacoste tshirt wearing cunts pissing everywhere and throwing bottles of piss

The Charlatans are playing Brixton in December, I'd rather wait until then to see them, the rest can fuck off.

not for me, but at least it changes, rather that than metallica / iron maiden / foo fighters on endless bloody rotation until the end of time

Used to love this festival, went to the first one and then every year until the year Oasis pulled out. Being a weekly regular at the Pink Toothbrush at the time it was a big meet up of everyone from there, used to have to great time. Proper shit now, too corporate, shit bands...or maybe I'm just getting old

Re: V festival
I went once (and ONLY ONCE) for one day just 'cause The Stranglers, Blondie, The Strypes, The Wailers, Human League and Kaiser Chiefs were playing. Manics were supposed to too but cancelled.

Otherwise, it's a fucking awful place and would never go again.
